In the Scientific Image Competition of the Swiss National Science Foundation, researchers present science in a surprising light. Sarah Speck, PhD student at the Department of Geography, has photographed a group of elderly people in Nepal. They are waiting to register with a bank that will pay out their pensions in the future.
The SNSF Scientific Image Competition encourages researchers working in Switzerland to present their works to the public and the media. Photographs, images and videos will be rated in terms of their aesthetic quality and their ability to inspire and amaze, to convey or illustrate knowledge, to tell a human story or to let us discover a new universe.
The winning entries, but also many more, will be presented at this year's Bieler Fototage from 4 to 27 May 2018. The pictures are also to be shown at the Zurich Film Festival ZFF in autumn 2018 and at other exhibition venues.
