SCoPe Lab - Spatial Cognition and Perception

The SCoPe Lab in the Department of Geography at the University of Zurich conducts interdisciplinary research bridging spatial cognition, perception, GIScience, cartography, and human–computer interaction. We focus on how people perceive, navigate, and form and retain mental representations of space, examining short- and long-term spatial memory, visual attention behavior, and neurocognitive processes. As well as on investigating how environmental factors and the communication of spatial information via digital tools affect human behavior, emotional response, and decision-making in real-world and VR settings. Our goal is to advance human-centered design for the built and digital worlds, where cognition, perception, and environment meet.
