About
I am an urban studies and housing researcher whose work explores the social, legal, and material dimensions of housing and urban life. I lead the group Urban Geographies of Housing, which investigates how housing inequalities are produced at the intersection of policy, governance arrangements, and everyday practices. My work draws on qualitative, ethnographic, and socio‑legal approaches to understand how people inhabit, negotiate, and make sense of urban transformation.
Research interests
My research examines the role of housing in shaping the built environment, social reproduction, and socio‑spatial inequality. I focus on three interconnected themes:
a. Housing vacancy and the material politics of urban transformation
I investigate how housing regimes, disinvestment, and the materialities of buildings produce uneven geographies of dwelling and urban change.
b. Socio‑legal geographies of housing
My work analyzes the institutional and regulatory infrastructures that govern access to housing, with particular attention to responsibility, intermediaries, and everyday legal practices.
c. Affective and cultural geographies of urban life
I explore how urban transformations are lived, felt, and represented, tracing the cultural dimensions of dwelling and displacement
Current projects
My current research focuses on urban vacancy and property neglect, with a particular emphasis on Athens. This project examines how vacancy is produced, governed, and experienced, focusing on the socio-spatial dynamics and institutional frameworks that shape patterns of disuse and neglect. In parallel, I am part of the SNF-funded research project Responsible City, co-leading Subproject 1 (SP1), which focuses on socio-ecological controversies around tenants' and landlords’ responsibilities for maintaining housing, including nature, community, and home.
My previous work includes research on the governance of temporary housing in the private rental market in Zurich (UZH Postdoctoral Grant), the governance of property neglect within Germany's financialized rental sector (Hannibal II). I have also conducted several research projects in Athens in collaboration with the National Centre for Social Research (EKKE) such as the projects SeDe: Segregation patterns Deprivation areas and ISTOPOL: Polykatoikia Stories, both funded by the Hellenic Foundation for Research & Innovation and the project Micro-segregations, funded by the Onassis Foundation.

Moreover, I have worked as an architect-urban planner for medium-scale and independent design studios in Berlin.
