Social geography neighborhood walk with tsüri
Nouri Abdelgadir joined local journalist Dominik Fischer for a neighborhood walk exploring cultural and aesthetic homogenization in Zurich, published by tsüri, an outlet focused on urban politics, housing, and cultural life in the city. Together they visited hotspots of conspicuous consumption, new build gentrification, as well as direct and symbolic displacement.
The walk was designed to bring social and cultural geography approachs to the city to the foreground by centring affect, belonging, and everyday urban life. The idea was to complement more established debates about Aufwertung, which often tend to be anchored in political economy and planning perspectives.
