SNF Scientific Exchange: Research Stay at the National Centre for Social Research
In January and February 2026, Ifigeneia Dimitrakou conducted a research visit to the National Centre for Social Research (EKKE) in Athens, supported by a Scientific Exchange grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation for the project Everyday geographies of neglect and repair (project no. 239617).
The visit was hosted by Dr. Stavros Spyrellis at the Laboratory of Urban Social Transformations LaSTcity. During the stay, Ifigeneia Dimitrakou conducted fieldwork and advanced her research on the dynamics of property neglect and vacancy in central neighborhoods of the Athens Municipality. The exchange also provided an opportunity to engage with researchers at the Laboratory working on questions of housing, touristification, and segregation and deepen her understanding of post-crisis transformation of the city.
