"Gender, debt and financialization of everyday life: experiences from Latin America"
On February 13 2026, Hanna Hilbrandt, Luis Salinas and Sandra Pulido represented the Home-Debt Nexus Project in the symposium "Gender, debt and financialization of everyday life: experiences from Latin America" in CIESAS Occidente, Guadalajara, Mexico. The meeting brought together researchers from six countries to reflect on the ways in which debt links financialization to gender injustice, and transforms everyday life in the Latin American cities.
The symposium reaffirmed the importance of academic spaces that foster a feminist analysis of "financial encounters" and opened the door to future collaborations on these topics.
