The Sustainable Development Goals are a set of 17 global goals established by the United Nations (UN)and adopted by all the state members of
the UN in 2015. These goals were created as a universal call to action to end
poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and
prosperity by the year 2030 (UN, 2022). The 17 goals and 169 targets cover a
wide range of interconnected issues, including poverty, hunger, health,
education, gender equality etc. They provide a framework for governments,
organizations, businesses, and individuals to work together and act towards a
more sustainable and equitable future for all (UNDP, 2022).
Many studies have investigated that education
has a significant relationship with health. It was believed that adults with
lower education level are more likely to be obese, to smoke, to have an
unhealthy diet, abuse drugs, and exercise less than those with higher education
level (Cutler, 2010; Johnston, 2019). Education plays a crucial role in
promoting health and preventing diseases. Health education programs in schools
can provide students with vital knowledge about healthy habits, nutrition,
hygiene, sexual and reproductive health, mental health, and substance abuse
prevention (Lawrence, 2017). In this project, we would investigate the relationship
between health and education, thus, Goal
3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages and Goal
4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong
learning opportunities for all are
addressed. We hope that government could value education and spend more
expenditure on it because it is highly related to the population health.
