Maps

This page shows four different interactive web map applications created to visualise the topic and to answer the research questions.
1) Proportion of electric cars in Swiss districts from 2015 to 2021
2) Relationship between proportion of electric cars and mean net income in Swiss districts
3) Relationship between proportion of electric cars and political orientation in Swiss districts
4) Relationship between proportion of electric cars and urban/rural district typology in Swiss districts

Using ArcGIS Online, an animation of the proportion of electric cars between 2015 and 2021, which can be found in the first map was created. Within this application it is possible to press the "play" button below the time slider to see the changes in the desired interval (default is one year, 2015 to 2016). If you want to see the changes year by year, simply close the blue bar by dragging one end. In addition, to get more information you can press any dot (or district) on the map and the details for the district of your choice will appear.

The other three maps represent the relationship between the proportion of electric cars and the factors we have taken into account, i.e. mean net income per taxpayer, political orientation and district type. In these maps it is possible to zoom in and move between the various Swiss districts. In addition, clicking on a district will display a pop-up with information about it. At the bottom left of each map you will find an interactive graph showing the relationship between electric cars and the factor involved. These graphs are directly linked to the map, and placing the mouse over a point on the graph will highlight the district on the map. In addition, the graph responds to zooming in on the map by only displaying the visualized districts.

Information on the map and related data is available in the infoboxes on each map (top left). The complete sources can be found in the Sources & Contacts page.

For optimal viusalization, we recommend using the 'full screen' mode (right in each map) when viewing a map.
