My dissertation project extends a geographical perspective in order to understand social and political negotiations surrounding a national park project in Switzerland – Parc Adula. By introducing conceptions of morality into protected area research in the Global North, I follow the idea of a moral turn in human geography (cf. Smith 1997, 2000), and try to grasp principles of worth and understandings of justice in conservation disputes.
Generally, I am interested in human-nature relationships: How do we speak about our surroundings, and how do we shape and interact with what we call 'nature'?
