Research interests
With a foundation in biology and microbiology, my scientific journey has always been rooted in understanding life at its smallest scales. During my Master's, I became fascinated by the hidden world beneath our feet, soils, and the microbial communities that drive essential biogeochemical processes like decomposition and nitrogen cycling.
Now, as a PhD candidate in Physical Geography, I explore how plant-derived organic matter is decomposed and integrated into soils under changing climatic conditions. My work aims to bridge biology and earth sciences, focusing on how warming influences the fate of plant inputs in soil systems.
To unravel these complex interactions, I will combine:
- Biomarker approaches (e.g., free-extractable lipids) to trace organic matter transformations,
- and RNA genetic analyses to investigate plant responses in waxes production
Ultimately, my goal is to contribute to a better understanding of how soils (our planet’s largest terrestrial carbon reservoir) respond to climate change, and what this means for future carbon dynamics.
