Assessment
Each module is completed with an assessment. UZH uses various forms of assessment, such as written, oral and practical examinations, presentations, written assignments, documented practical work and portfolio presentations. Information on the type of assessments can be found in the online course catalogue for each module or will be announced by the responsible lecturers at the beginning of the course. Examinations are the most common form of assessment. For each module, there are two attempts to pass the assessment.
Exams
Exams can take the form of written or oral tests. Some lectures are conducted as online exams. You should bring your own materials to all exams (e.g. pens, calculators, laptops). If you fail an exam, you can either take a second attempt on the repeat date or re-enrol for the module when it is offered again.

Important! Anyone who is ill on the day of the examination must submit a request for cancellation within 5 working days of the examination and enclose a medical certificate. Otherwise it will count as failed attempt.
Repetion Exam
Registration for a re- examination is usually done via the student portal. In the ‘Modules’ app, select ‘Repetition Exam Registration’. Please note the registration deadline. For autumn semester modules, it is the end of July, and for spring semester modules, it is the Thursday of calendar week 32 (midnight). You can find these dates in the course catalogue for each module under ‘Organisation’. You can change your registrations until the registration deadline.
