About Emiliano

Emiliano Casalini is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Zurich (UZH), where he specializes in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) remote sensing. Emiliano holds a BSc and an MSc (cum laude) in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Pisa, Italy, and a PhD from UZH, where his research focused on indicating and imaging ground moving targets in SAR data. His work integrates SAR focusing, inverse SAR, across- and along-track SAR interferometry, and advanced motion imaging techniques to improve the understanding and exploitation of radar signals for Earth observation. Emiliano’s research contributes to the development of novel methodologies for detecting dynamic features in radar imagery, supporting a broad range of applications from environmental monitoring to situational awareness in complex environments.

What excites me most about my work at RSWS

I feel fortunate to work in a dynamic and collaborative research environment alongside passionate and skilled colleagues who inspire critical thinking and creativity. What excites me most is the opportunity to deepen our understanding of radar signal processing while developing innovative SAR methodologies. The balance between theoretical exploration, practical implementation, and continuous learning keeps the work intellectually stimulating and personally fulfilling.
