Mid Holocene (Older Atlantic, ca. 7500 years BP). During this time existed in the Hinterrhein valley probably rather small glaciers. At the border of the mountain lake (Lai da Vons) developed a small alluvial bog where this peat bog profile has been cored (see pollen diagram Figure 1). Main vegetation types: Dense subalpine coniferous forest of Norway spruce, in the timberline ecotone mainly Swiss stone pine, European larch and mountain pine. The drawing shows the environmental situation during the Mid Holocene climate optimum before first human impact.
