A heart from above
The clouds produced this heart-shaped pattern during a calibration flight over an industrial area near Thun as part of this year's large-scale AVIRIS-4 flight campaign. The color channels are red (2200 nm), green (1610 nm), and blue (860 nm). Vegetation has a high reflectance in the near-infrared (approximately 800 nm), so it appears bright blue. Solar panels are also clearly visible on the roofs in bright green because they have a high reflectance in the short-wave infrared. (© Marius Vögtli, Andreas Hüni)
