Virtual excursion

Now we are ready for our excursion. We will hike from Kandersteg (1200 m) in the Bernese Oberland (Switzerland) to the Gemmi-Pass (2340 m) and then back to Kandersteg. The route is about 33 km long; in reality you would need two days; for the virtual hike, 30 minutes should be enough. Climatically, Kandersteg lies in the rainy northern Prealps while the Gemmi-Pass is on the border to the more continental Valais. The bedrock of the excursion area is formed by different types of calcareous sediment rocks. Consequently, we will only find plant communities occurring on calcareous bedrocks (with one exception). During the excursion, you will occasionally be bothered with a few questions; use the excursion documents to answer them!

Now, put on your cap, check your bootlaces, and here we go!
