The Zurich Graduate School in Geography/Earth System Science has a buddy program that is especially created to support new PhD students after their arrival and to stimulate dialogue between groups. Newly arrived PhD students are matched to more experienced PhD students. This should help to settle in faster and make sure that no one needs to reinvent the wheel.
