Workshop on Geographic Information Retrieval, SIGIR 2004

SIGIR, one of the premier events for presenting research in information retrieval will this year be held in Sheffield between July the 25th and 29th. On the last day of the conference a series of one day workshops with the aim of “providing a platform for presenting novel ideas in a less formal and possibly more focused way than the conference itself.” The field of Geographical Information Retrieval is becoming increasingly important, and a workshop at SIGIR presents an ideal opportunity to bring together the diverse community working in this field to discuss the state of the art and suggest a research agenda for the coming years.
