The on this webpage presented project focuses on the 6th goal “Clean Water and Sanitation”. One specific target of this goal is universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all. The conducted research concentrates on this target and thus on clean water. Clean and accessible water is essential to survive thus research in this field can help to ensure prosperity. On the planet earth there is sufficent water for everyone, but due to different climates, topography, bad economics or poor infrastructure people suffer from not having enough water. Therefore, the attention lies in particular on spatial inequalities in distribution of water. Thereby, the research question, what type of water access inequality exist where to what extent, is answered. The answers to this question should help to plan action to achieve the target of universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all by 2030. To answer this question access inequality, distribution inequality within countries, as well as inequality of natural water resources distribution are investigated with the help of maps.
