Loxia curvirostra

2 - The bird Loxia curvirostra, the cross-bill, lives on the seeds of Picea abies. During the winter, it collects over 700 seeds per day to feed its family, as young birds hatch in winter. Loxia curvirostra only breeds in regions with a good seed supply. Photo: V. Stöckli
