The alpine life zone represent a fascinating environment and despite its rather small land area, it is of great ecological as well as economical interest. In addition, alpine habitats are found worldwide.

The course ALPECOLe - Alpine Ecology and Environments introduces you to the alpine environment and provides an interdisciplinary approach to the ecology of high elevation biota. In this introductory lesson you will touch upon some typical elements of the course and explore some basic characteristics of the alpine environment.
