Welcome to Alpine Ecology and environments

This is the first e-course in alpine ecology that deals with mountain habitats around the world.

Explore a range of ecosystems from mountain forests to the zone of eternal snow and observe them from diverse perspectives, ranging from geology to biodiversity, and from landscape management to global change.

ALPECOLe is a multidisciplinary course that can also be taught using or studied individual modules and lessons.
It is particularly suited for students of the natural and environmental sciences, biology, geography and the geosciences, but it also offers special topics for professionals in various disciplines (tourism, forestry, hazard prevention engineering, landscape protection, teaching etc.).

The ALPECOLe course content can be accessed through the learning management system OLAT (guest access not permanently open!), or a CD version (only for lecturers and their registered students).

The course was developed as a Swiss Virtual Campus (SVC) project and a Swiss contribution to the UN "International Year of Mountains 2002".
