Research Interests

My current work centers on preparations in Russia for the 2018 FIFA Football World Cup. I am exploring socio-material changes in several Russian host cities, using a policy mobilities and actor-network approach to examine how knowledge is circulated, how it mutates upon application to new environments, and how these mutations shape the city. I am also applying Deleuzian multiplicity in this exploration, positing that multiple parallel mutations co-exist within the urban environment. Currently I am investigating developments in Ekaterinburg and Volgograd, but am also keeping tabs on World Cup-related changes in other host cities as well. These investigations will be included in upcoming articles covering themes of neopatrimonialism and neoliberalism.
