The SPECCHIO system acts as a spectral signature and sampling campaign repository by storing spectral data and associated metadata in a relational database. Automated campaign data loading and metadata retrieval from spectral input files combined with a powerful metadata editor provide quick and easy data input. Retrieval of spectral information is provided by the means of metadata queries with the output being displayed as online report or exported as CSV or ENVI (TM) spectral library file.
SPECCHIO is based on a MySQL database with a Java Application providing the user interface. It thus can be run in heterogenous computing environments.

An instance of the SPECCHIO database is now online (15.10.2007) and individual user accounts can be created online.
