Test Site: Bonn (Germany)

The Bonn test site provides an example of a vegetated scene with moderate topography. A variety of baselines and repeat pass intervals are available, as the data were acquired during the first ERS-1 ice phase.

A reference DEM (originally produced by digitizing map contours) was provided by the D-PAF.

ERS SLC quarter scene data were provided by ESRIN and processed at RSL.

ERS precise orbit (PRC) products from the D-PAF were used for orbit / baseline calculations.

The geographical location of the Bonn test site is presented here.

The Rhine river crosses through the northeast corner of the scene. One finds arable land, mixed deciduous and coniferous forests, open-pit coal mines, gravel pits, and densely populated areas within the area.
