Extended Chirp Scaling with MATLAB

Implementation and Example

Provided on this page is an example of SAR raw data processing using the Extended Chirp Scaling algorithm as described in

  • A. Moreira, J. Mittermayer, R. Scheiber. Extended Chirp Scaling Algorithm for Air- and Spaceborne SAR Data Processing in Stripmap and ScanSAR Imaging Modes. IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, Vol. 34, No. 5, September 1996.

The example shows a simulated point target in an airborne X-band SAR.
An implementation of the basic algorithm (with which the example was processed) in MATLAB is available for download below together with the raw data of the simulated point target.

Example

Processing results for a simulated point target. SAR sensor configuration: 10 GHz carrier frequency and 100 MHz sampling rate, a PRF of 1 kHz and a sensor velocity of 200 m/s.
