RSL at 9th Swiss Geoscience Meeting
The 9th Swiss Geoscience Meetingwith focus on the latest advances in research in gesociences was held at ETH Zürich from 11th to 13th November 2011. The meeting was organized by the Platform Geosciences of the Swiss Academy of Sciences SCNAT.
The Remote Sensing Laboratories have actively taken part in Symposium Session 16 on Earth System Science Related Earth Observation, as well as in Session 18 on Advances in GISciences and Remote Sensing. The two sessions were realized in close collaboration by the Swiss Commission for Remote Sensing SKF and the Interuniversitary Partnership for Earth Observation and Geoinformation (IPEG).
RSL scientists made use of the opportunity to present their latest results to a broader audience of scientists, policy makers, governmental bodies and value adding industry in the field of geosciences in Switzerland. The symposium offered an excellent opportunity to the participants to broaden their scientific network in and outside their own area of expertise.
In both oral and poster sessions, RSL contributions included topics related to
- sensor calibration, validation and geolocation (e.g., APEX imaging spectrometer, TerraSAR-X),
- operational data processing and sensor fusion (e.g., BRDF-correction, fusion methods of LIDAR and optical data, SAR data processing), as well as
- generation of higher level products for Earth System Science related research in the biosphere (e.g., gross primary productivity, ecosystem mapping, global vegetation activity, plant functional traits), the atmosphere (high spatial resolution mapping of trace gases) and the cryosphere (glacier volumes mapping, alpine snow melting).
