Research interests

In my PhD project I focus on the role of roots for soil organic matter (de)stabilisation processes, whereat I study plant-soil interactions by using isotopic techniques and compound specific analysis. Further I will look at the changes in above- and belowground carbon input quality and quantity under changing climatic conditions (drought) and its effect on the decomposition within soil.

I am using a unique facility called MICE (Multi-Isotope labelling in a Controlled Environment), which mainly consists of two climate chambers and an isotopic labelling approach for studying organic matter dynamics within the plant-soil system (on the long term). The development of MICE was part of my master project.
