The unit 'Soil Science & Biogeography' of the Department of Geography at the University of Zürich seeks to understand how global change affects the multiple interactions of vegetation, soil, and the terrestrial carbon cycle. These processes are investigated with several complementary biogeochemical and vegetational methods, including stable isotope analysis, molecular markers, (in)organic geochemical analysis, clay mineralogy, soil and vegetation survey (GIS), and (geo)statistical interpretation. We are member of the ESF network Molecular structures as drivers and tracers of terrestrial C fluxes MOLTER.
The unit hosts the secretary of the Soil Science Society of Switzerland.
