Research interests
My research interests are related to glacier inventories from optical remote sensing data: Methods, technical and conceptual aspects of their compilation on the one hand, and application of such dataset on the other hand, for instance to assess glacier changes in the past, the current glacier situation, and potential future developments. A particular focus of my research is dedicated to the use of digital elevation models for such purposes.
Related to such applications, I have a focus on the detection and analysis of glacier lakes, their future developments and related natural hazards.
Regionally my main interests are in the European Alps, the High Asian Mountain Ranges (Himalayas, Karakoram, and Hidu Kush), as well as the Peruvian Andes.
