Information NEBIS network

About the NEBIS network

Libraries all over Switzerland work together in the NEBIS network. As a result, around 10.5 million documents can be found in the joint library catalog online.

Around 140 libraries all over Switzerland collaborate in the NEBIS library network, including the libraries of ETH Zurich, the University of Zurich, EPF Lausanne and the Swiss federal research institutes, the Zentralbibliothek Zurich, libraries of technical colleges, the Swiss Social Archives, the libraries of the Schweizerisches Institut für Kunstwissenschaft, the Schweizerisches Institut für Kinder- und Jugendmedien and the Schweizerisches Nationalmuseum Landesmuseum Zurich. NEBIS is a member of the Informationsverbund Deutschschweiz (IDS).

Between them, the NEBIS libraries have holdings of around 15 million documents (books, series, journals, electronic publications and non-book materials), approximately 10.5 million of which can be found in the joint online catalog.

NEBIS libraries

NEBIS loan network

The NEBIS network consists of ETH library, its special collections libraries and around 50 more libraries. You can order items from all libraries within the NEBIS network for free, and collect and return them at the NEBIS network library of your choice.

The library of the Department of Geography is not part of the NEBIS lending network.

This means that items from a NEBIS network library (f. ex. ETH library) or from the Zentralbibliothek Zürich cannot be delivered to the GIUZ library but have to be collected as well as returned at the respective library.
